What, Diablo?
It can be expected that much of the (main stream) gamers don’t know Diablo. It’s an old but very good (and legendary) game (and still very popular amongst the happy few), so with this review I’ll try to make it a bit more popular again for the main-stream gamers.
I don’t know why very few people know the game, the genre? RPG’s give online games a new dimension: a new world. Look at the MMORPG’s. But I still think more people play shooter and strategy games. Another reason may be that it’s an old game, the graphics aren’t very good, and it’s still waiting for a follow-up. But still enough people play the game: because it’s fun, and because it was (is) a very good game, even now there was a special edition released with this Diablo, and the old one. I’ll try to explain why it’s still a good game, but also the bad things in the game.

An Eternal changing world
The nice thing about Diablo is that the levels are very, very, very big. If you play it fair, that is without hacks/cheats etc. and begin with a new weak personage, you can do a whole day with only the first act. And the levels keep changing: when you re-enter a new game there is a small chance that the level is exactly the same, but the objectives are still the same. If you play on the internet, you are lucky, up to 7 players van help you with your quests, give you stuffs, and you can even battle them.
To proceed in the game, you must train you characters ability’s, magic, combat moves etc., and get new equipment. In this way you nearly never battle against the same persons, and the game is never the same.
In the game you can buy, find or trade you knives, staffs, armor, helms, spears etc. Trading your equipment is a nice thing to do, and you see that it’s a great social happening.
All these things give the game a long life and a social flavor. Also there are a enough things to discover. All this thing also give the game a unique experience when you play it.

Ingenious on-line function
There are not much games which have an on-line function that makes the games so much better then the single-player. You can play it on your own in a week, and maybe you are ready with all the quest on 1 day on-line, but there is so much more. With the trading, dueling, making your character better then it was, talking and much more, you can play the game for maybe years.

Nice story
The game also has a very nice story, and it’s put in every thing of the game: the weapons, people in it, everything. There are also nice links to the first version of Diablo and of course to the reality. Much names for the devil are mentioned in the game, and the weapons contain a lot of legendary people in the game. If you want to know the whole story you must talk to everyone in the game, and view all the movies, which are of a nice quality.

Conclusion
A nice game that everyone who likes RPG’s must have, it also isn’t very expensive (about 10 dollars for Diablo II and again 10 dollars for the Expansion pack.

Graphics: Not very good these days, but also not very bad, GBA Mario has worse.
Sound: Nice music, gives a nice ambience of the game and it doesn’t disturbs your mind.
Gameplay: You take your mouse and the F1 – F8 buttons, and you can play it, not to hard. It plays just wonderful, only your internet connection can cause for trouble.
Lifetime: With internet: years, without: a month or 2, maybe 3 or 4, but then it’s over, maybe it’s fun with a large network or something like it…

Score: 9
